The NZ Liberation Museum - Te Arawhata
The NZ Liberation Museum – Te Arawhata offers an immersive experience that tells the incredible story of Kiwi soldiers using a single ladder to liberate the French town of Le Quesnoy in the final days of World War I. In collaboration with The NZ Memorial Museum Trust – Le Quesnoy, Wētā Workshop's team was involved in all stages of the project, from concept to installation. Central to the museum is Te Arawhata, a translucent sculpture in the main staircase that symbolizes the ladder used in the liberation and guides visitors upward, enhancing their journey with dynamic light and reflection.
